Joseph M. Klagholz, President/CEO
of ASG, first recognized the special needs of New Jersey
coastal property owners in 1993 and formulated a vision
for meeting those needs. As native residents of New
Jersey and permanent residents of coastal Waretown, Joe
and his wife Janet, Executive Vice President, accepted
the challenge to create a series of coverage programs
designed exclusively for New Jersey coastal property
owners. Their work began with exhaustive research and
preparation of detailed plans that protected the needs
and interests of property owners within a parameter that
could be endorsed by
the industry. Joe and Janet then traveled to Lloyd's of
London, equipped with a solid plan, mounds of support
data, and a firm belief in their vision. After days of
inquiry, the syndicates and their underwriters embraced
Joe and Janet, their company, and all coastal property
owners in New Jersey. Atlantic States Group, Inc. issued
its first policy to be effective June 20, 1994 and all
policies are now underwritten by certain underwriters at
Lloyd's.
In 2005 Joe and Janet completed their transition plan by
appointing John C. Klagholz as President of Atlantic
States Group, Inc. John has been with the company since
1996 and as its new owner is addressing the company’s
mission with the same knowledge, determination and
dedication as its founders. Under John’s leadership,
Producers are guaranteed the ASG promise, to meet the
special insurance needs of New Jersey’s coastal property
owners.
